Cars in movies almost always go hand in hand unless we’re talking about a movie based on the past or on islands or at sea. While there are tons of movie lists based on cars, I figured I’d compile a list of movies that center around imported cars rather than American Muscle cars. They’re interesting because they tend to be lesser known and often times exotic or at least appear that way.

The Transporter 1 & 2

The first of the Transporter movies featured a BMW E38 750iL but later transitions to the Mercedes-Benz W140 after the BMW was blown up.

In the second of the Transporter movies, Jason Statham starts off the movie with an Audi A8 and transitions to a Lamborghini for the ending.

Taxi 1,2,3 & 4

Not a lot of people know of this French film, in fact I wouldn’t have known about it had an overseas friend told me about this movie. I’ve since watched all the subsequent sequels to it, including the recently released 4th installment. I few years back a major US remake of this film flopped big time, I saw it too but begrudgingly. Gee I wonder why? I mean come on! Why in the world would you cast Queen Latifah? Anyway, The Peugeot 406 appears to be in all 4 films with slight modifications to its aesthetics. In the second movie, Lancer Evo 6 or 7s appear throughout the film.

Fast & Furious 1,2 & 3

A lot of different import cars were featured throughout the series of movies under this title. Most of the car chase scenes are quite imaginative and unrealistic, but definitely drew a lot of attention to car mods. Here in NY, I’d say this movie definitely helped a lot of Autozones make money off those undercarriage lights.

Redline

I haven’t quite seen this movie yet, but I believe it was released between F&F1 & 3 in an attempt to capitalize on the whole car modification scene.

Italian Job

Mini Coopers are used in a revenge gold heist. Quite an interesting concept and nicely done car chase scenes.

007 James Bond

Way too many Trailers to find. I think the most notable vehicle that I remember was the Aston Martin Vanquish.

The theme of the movie doesn’t center around cars. But Vin Diesel does a lot of car jacking in this movie.

Getaway in Stockholm Series(1,2,3,4,5,7,8)[GiS]

The GiS series movies are supposedly based off real cop car chases. In most of the movies, the cars appear to be quite exotic, from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Supra, etc… The cars are either driven by Mr.X or his associates. They sometimes taunt the cops into chasing them but for the most part no street legal car could outrun them. This series of movies also spawned something called, “Ghost Riders” who have heavily tinted helmets and outrun cops on their motorbikes in the UK. Supposedly there’s some kind of battle between the two teams.

GiS 8 Trailer:

I’m not sure which GiS video this came from but we see here in this clip a Porsche 911 pulling over for a police car but quickly reverses and speeds off, as the cops exit the car.
