My blog has been up on the world wide web for some time now. I’ve accumulated some posts and have had a few unique visits(sadly, none of them return).
I can’t argue the fact that most of my content is not something that will improve your life or even present anything that’s not widely available elsewhere. Which is why I’m surprised to see so much spam being caught by the spam blocker. If your not familiar with independently owned blogs, spam does exist! They’re quite sneaky in fact. Most of the spam that my filter has caught are mainly from comments. There’s a number of names for these types of spamming, the most popular name is known as link farming…

These possibly bot generated comments come from either foreign countries(as determined by IP) and/or from scoundrels that really have nothing better to do with their time. What sucks is that while I’d love to share some of their comments(very rarely anything worthwhile) the links are sometimes too dangerous(virus/ad soaked sites) to share.
In the interest of research, I did check out various link farm sites and found them to all share the same attributes. Random blog entry titles with links to other sites. I read somewhere that these sites mainly generate $$$ by piggy backing off traffic from popular sites. Well, the jokes on you(whoever these jerks are, because my site’s barely generating traffic these days. On top of that, almost all those (over 50 thus far)comments are detected by two spam blockers I have running on the server.
What sucks even more about these jackals is that they are either generating really bad names or the developers of these bots are not up to speed on proper spelling. As seen in the picture above, spam links are easily detected either by improper spelling or overtly obvious mature titles.

Yup, I’ve had my material stolen by them quite a few times.
Great work.
